That is amazing and well worth the time. I just retired and have started to put together a woodworking shop and after seeing what you can do I am looking at wood turning in a whole new light. Thanks for the video.
Very nice box and a stunning piece of wood. Keep up the nice work.
Great video Guy, And great looking box.
Guy i would have said for the 1st pass to fill those cracks using thin CA, then use Tight Bond lll to finish it up
@BrushCountryJamboree Damn, Dude, where are you when I need you? Excellent advice. I have the glue and more of the same wood. Thanks
@Larenzoid Thanks Larry. Be safe and Happy New Year, right back at you!
@truckpipe Thanks Gregg. Many thanks for watching. So glad you enjoyed.
@windsor927 Well sir. It feels good to be an inspiration. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
awesome project, some beautiful wood you got there, and a happy new year.
Guy goto your local Wal-mart and purchase a roll of rubber matting that they have, you will find it over in the area w/ the dish drainers.
It works great for holding things in your scroll chuck w/o damaging the projects.
Great video. I particularly like the camera angles you use. I can clearly see your angle of attack with the tools as well as the tool rest alignment. It’s not always clear on other videos I’ve seen.
He who dares wins! Great work guy!
Great looking box Guy, I’m glad it didn’t come apart on you.
Hey there Guy, another great vedio as the others said great camera angles your a real teacher about how to do it. I was wondering who made the chuck you are using I’ll wager a block of real nice piece of maple that it’s Grizzly if I lose sed me info at fddbowler at yahoo so I can pay up
Yo Guy, I had to add another post the changes you made to the box top were a great improvment to the overall design of the jar (box) whatever you call it BTW did you ever convert that cupboard under you tablesaw to slideing tray shalves just wondering about it thought you might check out the draw slides at Grizzly the price and quality can’t be beat and the service is top notch (in my homble opion) thanks again for the great videos you do I have learned some real good stuff fom ya Frank
verry beautiful!
Thanks for responding to my comment. Just to let you know, I am a women. Should have signed my name to give you a fighting chance. I will keep watching your videos with great interest…….Deb
Very nice work i want to add a lathe to my shop but the tooling is something in not sure of any suggestions on what to get started with
Wow what a nice piece of art work. Plus, Carl has been known to give out some cool pieces of wood. Very nice.
cracking video good laugh brill
Love the color on that wood, great job on that box.
@customcutting213 It really depends on what you want to do, If you want to do basically everything you can, as far as tools, A skew or 2 (different sizes, different size spindle gouges a scraper or 2 for projects like this one and bowl gouges again different sizes would be what I would suggest. Yea I know you wanted Guy to answer. but I figured I’d give my 2 cents too.
@windsor927 Please forgive me. “Blush”, LOL. Sorry about that, Deb. That was a terrible thing of me to assume. According to my stats, I only have a 7.5% female viewing audience. I would like to see more women get involved in woodworking.
@kipperdude1 Well, I move kind of slow these days, but I am making progress. I recently got the wood for it. now I need to get be a good set of full extension drawer glides. There are a lot of days I cant do anything. Car accident, two back surgeries, bad neck injury (no surgeon will operate for fear of paralysis), head injury (30 days in the hospital with no memory). This all happened about three years ago, and I still can’t be on my feet more than approximately 2 hours at-a-time.
@customcutting213 Hey Man, sorry about the delay in getting back to you about lathe tools. I started with—an 1/8th in. Parting Tool—a 3/4 in. Roughing Gouge—a 3/8 in. Spindle Gouge—a 3/4 in. Skew Chisel—a 1/2 in. Bowl Gouge—a 1/2 in. Round-Nose Scraper—a 3/4 Box Tool. This makes (in my opinion) an excellent set. By the time you are proficient with these tools you will already know what you want next.
Take Care & Be Safe
